About Me
My name is Kaushika and I'm a year 3 student from Republic Polytechnic.
As a student currently pursuing a Diploma in Media Production & Design, I’ve always had a passion for filmmaking and storytelling. My interest began when I saw my dad create short films for local competitions and launch his YouTube channel, Kovin Payanam. This inspired me to explore the world of film more deeply, leading me to join the Mediacomm Club as a CCA in secondary school. There, I gained valuable hands-on experience in both pre- and post-production, learned how to collaborate effectively within a team, and even took on leadership roles. My skills developed further when I became the videographer for VJS Production [my family's production group] where I filmed content for my dad’s channel. These meaningful experiences deepened my curiosity and passion, and confirmed my aspiration to pursue a career in directing. Recently, I had the opportunity to intern at CNBC as a Studio Operations Intern, where I was involved in live broadcasting. My role included operating robotic cameras and handling live audio mixing during broadcasts, giving me first-hand experience in a professional studio environment and sharpening my technical expertise. I would describe myself as responsible, organised, and dependable. When faced with challenges, I stay committed and always give my best. Currently, I’m working as a freelance videographer, specializing in short film cinematography for clients, and I’m in the process of launching my own film-focused YouTube channel to further explore my voice as a filmmaker.
